Front Yard Landscape Contest Rules
1. No purchase necessary to enter or win. Contest begins May 24, 2008 and ends June 21, 2008. Entries must be received by June 21, 2008. Entries are accepted via the web through the official entry form posted at www.GrandForksHerald.com. Or, you can mail in your submission to Grand Forks Herald, 375 2nd Ave N. Grand Forks , ND, 58203. Or, drop off submissions at the Grand Forks Herald (same address) or All Seasons Garden Center at 5101 S. Washington St., Grand Forks, ND.
2. To enter:
a. Log on to www.GrandForksHerald.com, click on Front Yard Landscape Contest, or mail the following information.
b. Submit a picture of your yard or another person's yard as long as you have their permission. Include a description of your yard care issues and problems that make you think your yard needs the most help.
c. Fill out the requested information: name, address, age range, phone number and email address.
d. Mail-in entries will be uploaded online.
e. Online database is not published for viewing; only top three entries will be available for viewing and notified beforehand.
3. Limit one entry per household. Any entry for the same house will be void.
4. Entries are the property of Grand Forks Herald and will not be sold or used by a third party. Entries are only used for the Front Yard Makeover Contest.
5. Entries are judged on how creatively entrants describe their yard needs, why he or she determines his or her yard or someone else's yard needs landscaping and the overall look and potential of the yard from viewing photos. All judging decisions made by Grand Forks Herald representatives and third party judges are final. All qualified entries are eligible; three will be determined as top entries and posted on www.GrandForksHerald.com where visitors are encouraged to vote for their favorite yard. The winner, as determined by the number of votes, will receive the yard makeover described in number (7). One winner is determined. In the event of a tie, a Grand Forks Herald representative will name a third party yard expert to determine a winner.
6. The Front Yard Landscape Contest is open to legal residents who are 18 years of age or older at the time of the entry. Entries are for single-family housing for homeowners, not renters and awarded for the front yard only. Eligible entries are Grand Forks or East Grand Forks residents.
7. Winner will receive a front yard landscape project. Project may include machinery, construction supplies and vehicles around the property with some supplies placed in the yard during project. Project timeline is between June 22, 2008 and July 19, 2008. Project timeline may be shortened or extended if reasonable complications restrict the set timeline, such as weather. Landscape project is worth $5,000 as determined by existing prices for products and services by All Seasons Garden Center. Project includes a professional landscape design, consultation and installation of materials.
8. Finalists not determined to be the winner do not receive a prize.
9. No substitution of prize will be made. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute the prize for equal or greater value. Employees of Grand Forks Herald, Forum Communications and All Seasons Garden Center are not eligible.
10. Entry constitutes permission to use winner's name, address and likeness for publicity without any additional compensation. Winner's landscape project will be used by Grand Forks Herald for a promotional campaign. Winner consents to placing a standard yard sign in homeowner's front yard for a two week period following landscape completion.
11. Winner will be notified by phone and e-mail. Winner must respond in 10 days of the notification date. If response is undeliverable or no response is received, prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner will be selected.
